Beach Cleanup, Reserva Natural, Playa Grande El Paraiso, Puerto Rico
Community engagement activity to restore beach and turtle habitat, recreating natural habitat and building community cohesion and knowledge.
Regenerative thinking in systems can start locally, involve the people and ecosystems of the place, and can grow capacity in place to regenerate.
From the website: "Ama Earth Group, in collaboration with the Municipality of Dorado, Sustainable Ocean Alliance, and Chelonia, is hosting a community-led beach cleanup and dune restoration at Reserva Natural Playa Grande in Dorado, Puerto Rico, on March 1, 2025, from 7 AM to 11 AM. This initiative goes beyond waste removal by using natural debris to restore dunes, strengthening coastal resilience and protecting nesting sites for endangered Leatherback sea turtles. Participants will engage in hands-on conservation efforts while learning about regenerative coastal protection from experts. Open to all, this event offers an opportunity to contribute to the long-term health of Puerto Rico’s shorelines while earning community service hours."
