All of the Above

This painting was made for an exhibition on inclusion and generative action. If something is generative, it is "capable of producing something or causing something to develop" so with this idea in mind, applying to both social and environmental issues in our collective world, I began thinking about the positive side of what we can generate as a world culture to create unity in mind and action. Religion plays an integral role in human behavior so with this painting I included a selection of practiced faith traditions that have elements of unity and commonality with each other. We often look at the differences in opinions and ideas – in particular to how we need to tend to our earthly environment – what if we looked at what we have in common as a way to generate positive action. By including these faith traditions on one canvas my message is one of universal contemplation with guidance toward generative action.
